Radial Engineering's PHAZER Phase Alignment Tool is an analog phase alignment device designed to align 2 signals so that the fundamental frequency of both signals is reproduced simultaneously. For example, you might have one mic on the kick end of the drum to add attack, and another mic on the outside of the drum to add body. When the pedal hits the percussion head, the sound of the first head is heard slightly before the second. By delaying the sound of the first head, you can play both at the same time, creating a rich tone. The same approach is especially effective for guitar amps if you connect direct access from the guitar amp to a mic in the cabinet, or if you connect 2 room mics, such as a close mic on an acoustic guitar, and another mic to choosefrom to pick up the atmosphere of the room.

Since it is physically impossible to align all the frequencies in time because each harmonic has a different wavelength, the Phazer Phazer Alignment Tool must be heard to work. If you listen to the sound by turning the phase control knob, you can hear when both sounds come into focus and find a sweet spot.

As this is most evident when targeting the lower fundamentals, this tool is also equipped with a low-pass filter that removes the high frequencies above the variable cutoff, helping to reduce phase aberrations in the upper spectrum.
