High Performance 8-Channel Rackmount For DI

Radial Engineering's ProD8 is an eight-channel passive direct box housed in a 19-inch rack-mount enclosure that requires no power to operate. The powerful radial transformers are very efficient and both balance the signal and convert the keyboard's high impedance source to a balanced, microphone low impedance output.

All channels are identical and fully isolated. Each channel has two inputs that are combined in mono using a resistive mixer. This means that the user can use both inputs for a single source. For a stereo source such as a synthesizer or digital piano, connecting an instrument with two inputs on the XLR output produces a mono mix.

For those who wish to connect a high power device such as a CD player to the device, the -15dB pad reduces the input level of the transformer and avoids saturation. The 1/4" THRU plug is a direct feed used for a personal monitoring system. A 180° polarity reversal switch is installed internally and factory set to position 2. pin-2 hot.

Each channel's effects loop allows each channel's two inputs to share the same effects processor. The THRU output can be set either before or after the effects cycle, depending on individual needs. For more flexibility in system configuration, the ProD8 features swivel lugs that allow a 1/4-inch input panel or XLR output panel to be placed in the front or back.
