The 2015 Compact Wide Cardioid Microphone is a pencil microphone that ensures excellent results for ambient pick up of drum kits or other groups of instruments.
Choose a pair of 2015 Compact Wide Cardioids for live situations where a traditional cardioid pattern isn't wide open enough. It works ideally as an overhead to capture a balanced sound from an entire group of instruments, like a drum set or horns section.
Also, when recording instrument clusters with complex radiation patterns, a wide cardioid design (also known as hemispheric, sub-cardioid, or hypocardioid) is an excellent choice for covering a wider coverage area.
DPA's 2015 is constructed to handle the hectic nature of a live stage. The thicker, more robust body construction of brass is very durable and known for its corrosion resistance and tolerance against metal fatigue. The surfaces of the mic handle and grille are also treated with a heavy-duty protected black chrome finish to ensure an elegant look after years of use.
