Connect Analog Audio Over Cat 5 and Cat 6
Radial Engineering's Catapult TX4M is a 4-channel snake designed to transmit 4-channel microphone signals over long distances with little to no signal degradation over shielded Cat5/Cat6 cables is. As such, it is useful for live sound reinforcement applications as it allows live sound stage engineers to ensure high quality audio connections on large stages and venues using relatively affordable cables. It is also suitable for system providers who can now transmit audio in different rooms using pre-wired networks.
The Catapult TX4M offers four he XLR input jacks and four transformer-balanced XLR pass-through outputs optimized for mic-level signals. As long as you use a shielded Cat5 cable, you can run phantom power through the Snake. You'll also notice two RJ45 type etherCON connections. One is the output used by RX4M on the receiver side. Another is throughput, which can be implemented when routing signals to additional catapults. Overall, you have the option of splitting the mic level signal and routing it to three different locations.
A ground lift switch helps eliminate noise problems on Cat5 or Cat6 lines. A steel handle also makes it easy to carry, and four bumpers protect the Ethernet jack and ground lift switch from wear and tear.
